• Does Superior fit the definition of a small business or an entrepreneurial venture? Please explain.

For the final presentation, you will create a 10- to 12-slide presentation analyzing a real-world scenario when change was needed in an organization. Change refers to the act of replacing something or making it different. Change in organizations is often related to improvement of organizational processes or accepted behaviors. Your choice of scenario could be from an organization that you have worked in previously or from a high-profile organization you have heard about in the news.

In addition to designing slides, you must also include slide notes (also called Speaker Notes). For each slide, your Speaker Notes should contain a minimum of 100 words describing and expanding on the content. Once you have created your presentation, you will need to save it as a PDF file with your Speaker Notes visible.

 

In your 10- to 12-slide presentation,

• Provide a high-level description of the organization you are analyzing.
  • What organization are you analyzing?
  • Who are the leaders involved and what are their roles?
  • What is the challenge or change needed with this organization?
• Identify one leader within the organization to analyze.
  • Who is the leader you chose?
  • What is their position and background?
• Describe one to two behaviors used by that leader to initiate or manage the change.
• Analyze their leadership approach using Kotter’s model of organizational change.
  • Look at the eight steps of Kotter’s model, and discuss any steps that are pertinent to your organization. You do not need to address all eight steps, but please address at least two to three.
• Analyze how that leader influenced the organization’s vision, mission, and strategy.
• Evaluate the leadership styles used by your leader and whether they were effective.

Remember: Add at least 100 words of explanation to the Speaker Notes section of each slide.

 This week our focus is on data mining. In the article this week, we focus on deciding whether the results of two different data mining algorithms provides significantly different information.  Therefore, answer the following questions:

1. When using different data algorithms, why is it fundamentally important to understand why they are being used?
2. If there are significant differences in the data output, how can this happen and why is it important to note the differences?
3. Who should determine which algorithm is “right” and the one to keep?  Why?

As scientists, psychologists are expected to help expand the current knowledge base.  For this post, you are being asked to think like a scientist. Choose a research question of personal interest within the field of psychology. Describe the research question and design a research project to collect data that would help answer this question.  Identify the variables of interest, i.e. if you conduct an experiment, identify the independent and dependent variables.  Finally, identify and address any possible source of bias or external variables that you will need to control in order to clarify the relationship between the variables in question. If you have a similar idea as a classmate, try a slightly different approach.

In Part 1, you addressed the role of dopamine in the underlying cause of Parkinson’s Disease and its treatment. Dopamine is also implicated in 2 other disorders, schizophrenia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (2012), schizophrenia is a severe disorder affecting 1% of the population. Although it is not as disabling, ADHD affects approximately 9% of elementary school children.

For both conditions, the neurotransmitter dopamine has been implicated. Discuss the following:

Explain the role of dopamine in the symptoms of each disorder as well as treatment approaches.

How is dopamine related to norepinephrine and epinephrine?
