Patient with Otitis Externa

ZM is an 8-year-old male who is brought to the clinic by his mother for complaints of acute left ear pain. She has recently picked him up from a week-long stay at camp, and he stated his ear hurt so bad he was crying. When his mother looked at this ear, she noticed the outside canal was very swollen. He could not even touch his ear. His mother states: “He is never sick, and he never cries.”

Nursing uses a large number of methods to be able to develop and achieve quality patient care. As research progresses and studies evolve, many research methods are designed to achieve these results. The learning process and the capacity of nurses to adapt this knowledge daily are crucial factors for nursing research strategies. Professional research is needed to outreach today’s world demands. Most of the research carried out in nursing is based on the problems that are faced daily. The answer to these problems is of vital importance. Nursing faces tremendous challenges today, and most need evidence-based solutions to make the right decisions. Patient treatment is delicate, and nursing errors can be extremely harmful (Merwin & Thornlow,2006). The clinical environment should be favored by constant research and development. Decision-making at critical moments has been one of the examples that could be presented as part of progress, where, based on these investigations, it has been possible to create decision algorithms that will benefit decision-making.

The research methodologies can be classified from the most basic to the philosophical level. There are two basic types of research, one of them is based on approach, and the other is based on Purpose. The Approach methodology classification uses quantitative, qualitative, or mixed Methods. Quantitative research is about identifying the problem base on numerical data; one example can be the prevalence of patients admitted to the ICU. Qualitative is more descriptive and is based on opinions, feelings, experiences, and subjective data, like the data collected in any study performer that involves a problem that can survey the patient to obtain a qualitative answer. The mixed is when the researcher cannot use either quantitative or qualitative methods to find a solution and needs to combine both (DeSantis & Ugarriza, 2000).

I like the practical methods. Primary research is the term used to describe a technique where the fundamental is without a specific purpose. It is used as basic knowledge and helpful in developing theories and principles. Applied research is the most practical and functional because its focuses on the immediate solution to a specific problem. This is the method that is the most useful. The classification is based on categories like general (Quantitative and qualitative), Nature of the study ( descriptive and analytical), Purpose of the study (applied and fundamental), research design (exploratory and conclusive), and Data Type (primary and secondary).

[Solved] Low Prescription Drug Costs

[Solved] Low Prescription Drug Costs

Reply to this post with at least 300 words, scholarly references in APA format within the las 5 years published.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) indicates that advocacy in nursing helps nurses lobby for their patients’ wellbeing, workplace environment, and communities. They can provide high-quality, affordable care and champion their profession through advocacy. Nurses also advocate for creating a better working environment, improving access to care, encouraging vaccinations, and low prescription drug costs (“5 ways nurses as advocates benefits healthcare,” n.d.).

Nurses are vital in-patient care as they provide advice and guidance about vaccinations. They are well-informed on the current immunization updates, safety issues, and current data about vaccinations. Communication in patient care ensures understanding, reduces fear, and gains compliance. Nurses safely administer vaccines just like physicians and other licensed healthcare practitioners (Supplemental Health Care, 2022). They are also responsible for safe immunization, proper storage and handling of vaccines.

Telemedicine enables nurses to provide care in rural or remote areas. Nursing care is provided using telecommunications technology. Case management is provided to doctors, and hospital administrators through telemedicine. Telemedicine software help nurses determine whether a patient requires extra care. They can also schedule tests, or an in-person visit to the clinic (“Nurses’ role in telemedicine,” 2021). Patient education, counseling, care, monitoring, and tracking patients with chronic conditions are examples of nurses’ tasks in telemedicine.

Nurses also advocate for low prescription drug costs. It involves prescribing generic drugs, assuring patients that the medicines require the lowest copay, and prescribing medications that are used in appropriate quantities to avoid wastage (Schmid et al., 2022). Nurses are encouraged to analyze bills at the state or federal level that would lessen the prescription drug cost problem. They provide expert information on the impact of the bills to committees. Most states with pharmaceutical committees use evidence-based information provided by nurses to develop policies. Nurses in these committees advocate for lower drug costs and better prescribing. It promotes better patient outcomes.

[Solved] Might Hinder Vaccine Administration

[Solved] Might Hinder Vaccine Administration

Reply to this post with at least 250 words, 2 scholarly references in APA format within 5 years published.

Nurses play an important role in the healthcare system. As the first point of contact with patients, nurses are responsible for addressing their concerns about the effectiveness and safety of COVID-19 vaccines. They administer vaccines and ensure people receive the required doses as in accordance to the ministry of health guidelines. Manning et al. (2019) state that nurses can help institutions such as schools and offices develop vaccination guidelines to minimize virus spread. At the same time, they are well-positioned to identify social and cultural barriers that might hinder vaccine administration among certain populations.

Also known as telehealth, telemedicine has gained popularity in recent times. The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed healthcare systems to adopt digital ways of serving patients to minimize exposure to the virus. Nurses are at the center of telemedicine success as they sensitize patients about its benefits and risks. They educate patients on the benefits and limitations of telemedicine. They also offer assistance, such as installing the software on patient devices where necessary. Additionally, nurses use telemedicine technology to monitor patient progress remotely, a beneficial technique for patients with chronic illnesses.

Prescription drug pricing is a major concern for many patients. The rising cost of healthcare is a bottleneck for low-income earners, with some opting to forego treatment or drug purchases due to a lack of funds. Like in vaccine administration, nurses are also at the frontline when prescribing drugs. They play the critical role of educating patients about the available alternatives and associated costs (Coster et al., 2018). They help patients understand the scope of their insurance coverage and how they can lower the cost of treatment by recommending generic drugs or advising patients to seek help from medical assistance programs.
