Your conclusions and recommendations should represent a synthesis of all that you have learned over the course of the program. You should be taking what you have learned and building upon that learning; combining concepts, skills and competencies into your final recommendations, demonstrating a deeper understanding of the issues based on your research and accumulated of learning.

     Students will deliver their first refined speech assignment informing their audience about their chosen career path. They will identify and explain how oral communication will play a role in their careers or professional positions. 

     Instructions
     By Friday at 11:59 p.m. CT, submit Speech 1.
     For your first speech assignment, you will present a 3-5 minute speech informing your audience about the role oral communication plays in your chosen career or current professional interests. If you are undecided about your future career or do not hold a professional role yet, consider the various roles you hold at the university. Are you involved in academic or social organizations? Do you volunteer in the community? These types of roles also require elements of public/oral communication. You may use Zoom or PowerPoint to record your presentation. Once your video is recorded, you will need to upload the file to YouTube and share the link within your assignment. Please do not upload the video file directly to Blackboard.
     The purpose of this speech is to inform by discussing the significance and/or interesting or surprising facts. Consider how your experiences surprised you (e.g., “I was surprised to learn that I would need oral communication skills in computer science because…”).
