[Solved] New York Times Describes

[Solved] New York Times Describes

  • Overview: Using mentor or model texts is a strategy to improve your own writing.  The New York Times describes mentor texts as, “Demystifying the writing process via examples students can learn from and emulate.” In this assignment, you will locate a mentor text in the form of a dissertation that may or may not be similar to your own topic to use as a model while you write your chapter 2.  It is most helpful to find a dissertation with a literature review similar to your own, but if that is not possible, you may look for the next best option.

  •  Directions:
    1. Use ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global database on the UC Library website to locate mentor text dissertation (preferably it would be related to your topic).
    2. You may need to use advanced search options to help narrow your search.
    3. Scan read the entire dissertation.
    4. Carefully read the literature review section.
    5. Provide a one-paragraph summary of the entire literature review.
    6. Write a second paragraph about what you learned through reviewing chapter 2.

Additional Information:ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global database is accessible through the Databases link below the blue picture on the Library website. The Databases tab will access an alphabetical list of the Library databases. The dissertation database is listed twice, as Dissertations and Theses and as ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. Both links access the same database. Many of the dissertations published since 1997 are available in full text with a link to the PDF. Here is the link to the P section of the database listings https://ucumberlands.libguides.com/az.php?a=p

“In June 2015, Pioneer Hotel, Inc. in Laughlin, Nevada agreed to pay $150,000 and furnish other relief to settle a national origin and color discrimination lawsuit filed by the EEOC. The EEOC charged that a class of Latino and/or brown-skinned workers was subjected to a barrage of highly offensive and derogatory comments about their national origin and/or skin color since at least 2006. Housekeeping and security department staffers in particular were constantly the targets of slurs by several supervisors and co-workers. In addition, the EEOC asserted that Latino/brown-skinned workers were told not to speak Spanish during their break times. Pioneer failed to stop and rectify the harassment and discrimination despite repeated complaints by the Latino/brown-skinned workers. Pioneer entered into a four-year consent decree that prohibits Pioneer from creating, facilitating, or permitting a hostile work environment for employees who are Latino or darker-skinned. Additionally, the hotel agreed to hire an outside equal employment opportunity consultant to ensure that the company implements effective policies, procedures, and training for all employees to prevent discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Pioneer management will receive additional training on its responsibilities under Title VII and will be required to immediately report complaints to the human resources department, create a centralized system to track complaints, and be held accountable for failing to take appropriate action. Notice of consent decree will be visibly posted at the hotel” EEOC v. Pioneer Hotel, Inc. d/b/a Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall, Case No. 2:11-cv-01588-LRH-GWF (D. Nev. settlement June 18, 2015).

  • What type of policy should the outside equal employment opportunity consultant create an implement? Provide a detailed summary of what should be included and why.

[Solved] Employee Survey Conducted 6

[Solved] Employee Survey Conducted 6

Module 04 Content

  1. Creating a training or development event for employees does not begin with a PowerPoint or manual. Rather, it begins with analysis and assessment of the people, the organization, the desired outcome, and consideration of the most effective methods to achieve the desired outcome.

For this assignment you will review the organization and audience analysis below. You will apply this analysis to complete a training overview. Be sure to address all of the bulleted items outlined in the training overview.

    Organization Analysis and Audience Analysis

    • Organization Analysis:
    • Parker and Parker, LLC is an HR outsourcing organization specializing in helping healthcare organizations with their HR functions. The organization employs 42 human resource professionals and four assistant directors across eight states.
    • Mission Statement: We provide stress-free HR support and solutions.
    • Audience Analysis:
    • The target audience of this training comprises of the 16 entry-level college graduate employees. Because Parker and Parker, LLC is an international organization, employees are disbursed throughout eight states and two areas of Prague most communication is written, and computer mediated. Miscommunications have occurred because of different levels of fluency in English and Czech as well as cultural differences that impact communication preferences. A few clients have expressed concern about the quality of Parker and Parker’s work overall if employees cannot communicate effectively in both languages. Teams within the organization have also struggled to meet deadlines due to miscommunications and conflicts.
    • The largest challenge facing Parker and Parker is the remote global nature of the workforce. Employees will have to train online when and where it is convenient to them. Another challenge is the lack of interest in language learning as indicated in an employee survey conducted 6 months ago. Most employees in the US were resistant to learning Czech.
    • The target audience will benefit from this training as effective communication prevents misunderstandings, increases client satisfaction, and protects the organization legally.
    • Complete a Training Overview
Prepare a Training Overview based on the information above. Be sure to include:
    • a brief yet informative description of the training.
    • an explanation of the learning theory that serves as a framework for the training (Knowles’ Principles of Andragogy, Transformational Learning, Experiential Learning).
    • Demonstrate an understanding of cultural differences and the importance of respect and inclusion.
    • a list of three to five objectives written in the “to + verb” format. Note: Be sure to address the global cultural differences challenging the organization’s effective teamwork in this list of objectives.
    • Examples: By the end of the training, participants will be able
    • To write a three-paragraph memo with…
    • To recognize and correct…
    • a statement of the desired outcome for the organization.
    • Examples:
    • To decrease waste by 10-15% by end of Q3.
    • To decrease chemical burns in the Southeast plants by 50% within 3 months of implementation.
    • To create at least three cross functional remote teams in Q1 using technology to facilitate communication and collaboration.
