[Solved] New Teacher Orientation Session

[Solved] New Teacher Orientation Session

 Assessment Description

Professionals with a degree in TESOL may consider the role of a coordinator for language programs (e.g., SEI, ESL, ELL, ELD, bilingual/dual) so it is important to understand the skillset involved in this position. The ability to personally collaborate with other professionals, as well as promote collaboration among all stakeholders, is a skill that can help in the sharing of knowledge and resources to galvanize others in goals befitting the learning of ELLs. The language program coordinator is often invited to present at new teacher orientations, staff meetings, district meetings, and training.

Imagine you are assuming the role of a language program coordinator and will present information on collaborating to create a culture of shared responsibility in a new teacher orientation session. Use the school and district where you currently teach or research a local school/district for the context of this assignment.

Part 1: Collaboration Presentation

Create an 8-10 slide digital presentation on creating a culture of shared responsibility through collaboration. Include the following in your presentation:

  • Which stakeholders in the school, community, and district office are available to teachers, and how each stakeholder can offer support to ELLs socially, linguistically, and academically.
  • At least 5-7 strategies for how teachers can advocate for ELLs by building relationships, collaborating with, and serving as a resource to stakeholders in the school, community, and district office to support ELLs’ learning. Include at least one strategy that involves ELL families in the collaboration.
  • Description of a supportive environment that promotes ELLs’ learning in language and content areas, including instructional strategies and appropriate use of technology.
  • Three obstacles to collaboration that teachers may encounter when creating a supportive environment for ELLs and respective solutions to overcome each obstacle.

Support your presentation with a minimum of three scholarly resources.

Presenter’s notes are required for each content slide. Presentation must include a title slide at the beginning, and a reference slide with documentation of resources at the end. The title slide and reference slide are not included in the total number of slides.

[Solved] G School Nurses

DQ 1:

In a school environment, ELLs and their families may encounter a variety of school personnel who are not educators (e.g., school nurses, bus drivers, cafeteria workers). What support and resources could you provide to such personnel for more effective interaction and support for ELLs and their families?

DQ 2:

Research job descriptions for language program coordinators who oversee SEI/ESL/ELD or bilingual programs. What are some of the job responsibilities and required skills? What areas of knowledge are expected? In reflecting on your current knowledge and skills, what areas do you feel like you can grow in? How confident and equipped do you feel in your ability to plan, implement, and manage instruction for ELLs?

Scenario

You are the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a local health system. Your organization held its annual strategic planning session and decided that there needed to be a change in the Emergency Departments (ED) relative to the triage process at one of the facilities. The Chief Executive Officer has suggested a pilot program utilizing telemedicine to supplement its ED services. The use of telemedicine may reduce wait times at the ED and triage non-emergent needs to the appropriate level of care (i.e., urgent care or primary care). It would also allow for more resources to be deployed for ED related services, such as on-call physicians operating remotely.

Instructions

In your role as CIO, you will need to research the use of telehealth in the ED and its implications for the organization. Draft a memo outlining the readiness of the organization to implement the change strategy. Your memo should include:

  • A SWOT analysis identifying internal and external forces and trends that may impact the change initiative.
  • A discussion of the challenges facing the ED based on research into the utilization practices of the ED in your community or in a community with which you are familiar.
  • Recommendation of the organization’s potential readiness for the change, including any actions that should be taken to increase readiness.

Using the Rasmussen library, research common challenges facing Emergency Departments. In addition, research utilization practices commonly aligned with ED visits. Use information from your current facility (or one you are familiar with or can research) to develop a SWOT analysis. Your recommendation should be based on both your SWOT analysis and your research into ED challenges.
