[Solved] Preparing Professional Documents

[Solved] Preparing Professional Documents

Review the Portfolio 1 Assignment Sheet (in Preparing Professional Documents–Overview) for directions on what kinds of information to include in your Fact Sheet and Bar Chart. Make sure that your Fact Sheet adheres to the 5 Principles of Design found in Ch. 13:

  • Balance
  • Alignment
  • Grouping
  • Consistency
  • Contrast

You have two options for creating your Fact Sheet. You can create the Fact Sheet in Word or create a specific type of Fact Sheet called an Infographic using Canva. I strongly suggest using Canva instead of Word because it’s easier to produce a more professional looking document using Canva’s templates for Infographics.

If you choose to make your Fact Sheet in Word, be sure to look over the Fact Sheet Samples (especially the “Student Sample Fact Sheet–made in Word”) and the “How to make a Fact Sheet in Word” video (in Preparing Professional Documents–Overview).

If you choose instead to use Canva to make an Infographic, be sure to look over the Fact Sheet Samples (especially the “Student Sample Fact Sheet–made in Canva”) and watch the two videos on How to make an Infographic in Canva (in Preparing Professional Documents–Overview).
For tips on creating your Bar Chart, see the “Creating Charts in Word” video, the “Bar Chart Sample,” and the “Student Bar Chart 1” and “Student Bar Chart 2” student samples (in Preparing Professional Documents–Overview). Remember to consider the overall look of your bar chart, and don’t forget to include the explanatory paragraph.

Laws Concerning Carrying Concealed Firearms on Campus in Texas
According to Texas Penal Code § 46.03(f) an individuals are prohibited from intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possessing or going with a firearm on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or in a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution. Concealed weapons permit holders are subject to this prohibition with the following exceptions.

Effective Dates:  August 1, 2016 for all state 4-year colleges and universities; August 1, 2017 for all state 2-year and junior colleges.

The new Texas law will permit individuals who have obtained a concealed handgun license (CHL) to carry their loaded, concealed weapon in college and university buildings.  Each college and university may determine certain sensitive areas and buildings* where concealed weapons will continue to be prohibited. Each college and university must publicly display campus policies on the official school website, as well as widely publicizing it among correspondence with the institution’s faculty, staff, and students. Previous laws permitting the concealed carry with a license on open campus grounds and in locked vehicles in parking lots will remain unchanged (see note 2 below).

*The sensitive areas will first be determined by the institution and will include representatives from the student body, faculty, and staff. Once the sensitive areas are approved by this committee, they will be sent to the Board of Regents for a 2/3 vote for approval.

Do you agree or disagree with allowing people to carry concealed handguns on public college and university campuses? Why or why not?
2. When it comes to “sensitive areas” according to the law above, identify at least one area where should handguns be prohibited on a public or university campus and explain why. You must identify at least one area.

  1. How is this topic related to the individualistic and traditionalistic political cultures in Texas?
  2. Do you agree with campus carry? Why or why not?
  3. Identify at least one area on campus that should be labeled as a “sensitive area” in accordance with the law. You must identify at least one area.

Your answer needs to be no less than 300 words.  You must answer all questions completely.

[Solved] Take Audubon Society Walks

My first thought as the farmer is that I’m thinking the private developer might be able to offer me the most money. Since the original offer was so much lower, I feel like there is bargaining room there. Additionally, with multiple parties being interested, I feel like that would only help to raise the price to the desired $4.5 million.

If I am feeling sad about having to leave the farm and I do aim towards conservationist beliefs, I would ultimately decide to work with the state’s Park and Recreation to hopefully get, at minimum, the appraised value of the property along with being able to see some parts of it remain mainly natural.

(I will admit to my bias as I am sad about how the Germantown Country Club was purchased by a private developer and all of that land will be used for new homes, instead of being a park ((which feels VERY similar to this fact pattern?????))

YesterdayJan 23 at 9:42pmManage Discussion EntryOkay, not gonna lie, that was almost TOO similar???? As the farmer, I would want be able to fund and support all of those organizations that are close to my heart and the developer’s money would be the way to do that.
However, through Parks and Recreation I would get the value of the farm, while still being able to see the land thrive and bring joy to others. It would especially be appealing as I am feeling sad about leaving, I could absolutely volunteer my time to take Audubon Society walks and see those eagles that are nesting around my old property. AND, I could volunteer on the farm and in the butterfly gardens.
I would have to sacrifice the size of my donations, but I would feel like a park would constitute a contribution in its own right.
