[Solved] “ Independent Consumer Group

[Solved] “ Independent Consumer Group

Typically when people think of bias in the news they think of ideological bias (Liberal/Conservative).  People say that FOX NEWS is conservative, NBC (MSNBC) is liberal, CNN is Anti-Trump liberal, etc.  However, it is not that simple.  There are several types of bias in the news, (see the attached file).

  • Bias by Omission is when a reporter or network leaves out one side of the story (Liberal or Conservative).
  • Bias by Selection of Sources is when a reporter or network including more sources that support one view over another.
  • Bias by Story Selection is a pattern of highlighting news stories that coincide with the agenda of either the Left or the Right, while ignoring stories that coincide with the opposing view.
  • Bias by placement – Story placement is a measure of how important the editor considers the story.
  • Bias by labeling — Bias by labeling comes in two forms. The first is the tagging of conservative politicians and groups with extreme labels while leaving liberal politicians and groups unlabeled or with more mild labels, or vice versa. The second kind of bias by labeling occurs when a reporter not only fails to identify a liberal as a liberal or a conservative as a conservative, but describes the person or group with positive labels, such as “an expert” or “independent consumer group”.
  • Bias by spin – Bias by spin occurs when the story has only one interpretation of an event or policy, to the exclusion of the other; spin involves tone – it’s a reporter’s subjective comments about objective facts; makes one side’s ideological perspective look better than another.

What I would like you to do for the discussion is to focus on Bias by Story Selection.  Look online at some major political media outlets like: CNN (Links to an external site.), FOXNEWS (Links to an external site.), MSNBC,  (Links to an external site.)AP News,  (Links to an external site.)ABC News, etc.  (Links to an external site.)

 (Links to an external site.)

Identify political stories that you feel are relevant/newsworthy BUT are being ignored by one or more major news outlets.  You may need to do a little research to really see if the story is missing or being ignored by putting it on the bottom of the website, etc.  Your stories should be current and not be older than around 6 months.  For your post you will need to find two stories.  One that is being ignored by the liberal media and one that is being ignored by the conservative media.

  • Briefly describe your 2 stories (you can link them as well) and say where they were found and where they were missing.
  • Don’t forget to reply to two other students.

The discussion is worth 10 points.  The rubric will help you with your post and replies.  You can find it by clicking on the three dots in the upper right hand corner.

[Solved] Would Prove Using Empirical

[Solved] Would Prove Using Empirical

What is True and How Do We Know?

The purpose of this discussion assignment is to reflect upon your understanding of epistemology, i.e., the philosophical approach to knowledge and truth. In 1-2 pages, address the following:

  • Identify a belief you think is true.
  • Identify and explain a philosophical account of truth from the readings that might help support your belief. For example, say the belief is that you are awake right now. Is this something you would prove using empirical evidence? If so, discuss at least one version of empiricism and the correspondence theory of truth. If the belief is one that refers to a paradigm (math, for example), discuss Cartesian rationalism and the coherence theory of truth. If it is one that does not admit of empirical or logical warrantability, discuss Deconstruction and/or the Pragmatic and Ewe Creativity approaches to truth.

[Solved] Use Supporting Citations

[Solved] Use Supporting Citations

This Project Assignment picks up the discussion of truth in the Week 3 Discussion by asking you to compare and contrast the modern and postmodern approaches to truth and art. In a 3-4 page paper, discuss the following:

  • Explain the idea that art represents reality by discussing Plato and/or Aristotle’s view of art. Discuss a work of art that you think illustrates this idea. For example, you might discuss a character/narrator/subject in a work of art (novel, poem, film, graphic novel, short story, television show, song, painting, etc.) who you think captures the idea that we have an essential, shared human nature and that art reflects this reality for us.
  • • Explain the idea that art is truth by discussing Schelling, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and/or Heidegger. Discuss a work of art that you think illustrates this idea. For example, you might discuss a character/narrator/subject in a work of art (novel, poem, film, graphic novel, short story, television show, song, painting, etc.) who you think captures the artichoke/post-modern idea.
  • You might also consider the following in developing your paper:
    • Is art mimesis/representation (as in Platonism and Aristotelian aesthetics) or is it a means of transforming the self and reality? Might it be aspirational, allowing us to achieve catharsis, as Aristotle suggests? Consider, too, how the idea of art as representation is akin to the avocado view while the idea of art as transformative is more like the artichoke view.
    • What is the relationship between art and philosophy? Do you agree with Plato and Descartes that philosophy is the best means of achieving certainty about reality and existence, or do you think that art is the ultimate expression of truth? How is the postmodern view of art a rejection of the natural standpoint we see adopted by empiricism and rationalism and rejected by phenomenology?

[Solved] Revised Synthesis Paper Supplemental

[Solved] Revised Synthesis Paper Supplemental

Assessment Description

Synthesis is the act of creating something new from multiple existing entities. Synthesis of research, then, is creating a new idea from existing ideas. Synthesis of research is not a single innate skill. Rather, it is a process learned through time and practice. At the doctoral level, writing is a continual process of revision as learners improve skills and build subject matter expertise.

In Topic 4, you submitted a Synthesis Paper and received both feedback from your instructor and a grade for your work. In this assignment, you will expand upon your original paper with additional research from additional sources, incorporate feedback from your instructor, and provide a reflection section addressing your revision process.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

  • Locate the Synthesis Paper you completed in Topic 4 and the feedback provided by your instructor.
  • Locate and download the Revised Synthesis Paper Supplemental Articles List.
  • This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
  • Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
  • Refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association for specific guidelines related to doctoral-level writing. The manual contains essential information on manuscript structure and content, clear and concise writing, and academic grammar and usage.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

Directions:

Locate the Synthesis Paper you completed in Topic 4.

Select two additional articles from the Revised Synthesis Paper Supplemental Articles List in the Topic Resources.

Using the feedback provided by your instructor and information from the two additional articles you selected, write a Revised Synthesis Paper with Reflection (1,250-1,800 words). Include the following in your paper:

  1. A Reflection (250-300 words) in which you discuss your revision process and how you incorporated your instructor’s feedback into the revised version. Like the format of an abstract, this section will receive its own page following the title page and preceding the Introduction.
  2. An introduction that provides context for the topic. This includes presenting a clear thesis statement.
  3. Support for your identified themes with evidence from each original article. You must also incorporate additional support from sources included on the supplemental articles list. Synthesize your discussion of the topic to support your thesis.
  4. A conclusion that demonstrates support of your thesis statement, brief summary of the main points from your two themes, and recommendations for future research on the topic.

[Solved] Brand Select One Product

[Solved] Brand Select One Product

Research Grocery Products in Canada Familiarize yourself with typical products in a Canadian grocer with online or in-store research. Any of these stores are good choices: Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys, Food Basics, Longo’s, or Freshco. Identify a Product and a Brand Select one product sold in a Canadian grocery store available in-person.( WE HAVE ALREADY DONE THAT : Product Name – Crush Orange Soda Drink )Research to Determine Who are the Product’s Buyers Research the product’s existing target audience and/or who buys the product the most often or most heavily. Use the information about the product and the buyers to explain why the product is attractive to these buyers. Identify One Change that Would Result in More Sales of the Product to a Specific/defined Group of People What single change can you make (think of changing one of the 4Ps) to make the product irresistible to an audience of people. The audience may already be buyers of the product and your change will make them purchase more often, or in greater quantity. The audience may be those who never buy the product but would likely do so once the updated product is available. The target audience may not even exist in Canada in a significant number, but an environmental scan shows it will be a significant audience in the future. See the examples on the next two slides to better understand these ideas.
