Practice questions are provided below

Chapter 7

Question 3

For the following research questions, create one null hypothesis, one directional research hypothesis, and one nondirectional research hypothesis.

a. What are the effects of attention span on out-of-seat classroom behavior?

b. What is the relationship between the quality of a marriage and the quality of the spouses’ relationships with their siblings?

c. What is the best way to treat an eating disorder?

Question 5

What kinds of problems might using a poorly written or ambiguous research hypothesis introduce?

Question 6

What is the null hypothesis, and what is one of its important purposes? How does it differ from the research hypothesis?

Chapter 8

Question 1

What are the characteristics of the normal curve? What human behavior, trait, or characteristic can you think of that is distributed normally? What makes you think it may be distributed normally?

Question 5

The mean of a set of test scores is 50, and the standard deviation is 5. For a raw score of 55, the corresponding z score is +1. What’s the z score when the standard deviation is half as much, or 2.5? From this example, what can you conclude is the effect of decreasing the amount of variability in a set of scores on a standard score (given all else is equal, such as the same raw score), and why is this effect important?

Question 9

Jake needs to score in the top 10% of his class to earn a physical fitness certificate. The class mean is 78, and the standard deviation is 5.5. What raw score does he need to get that valuable piece of paper?

[Solved] Tall Versus Flat Organization

[Solved] Tall Versus Flat Organization

You have been approached by two of your friends.  Together they have been working on an invention that will revolutionize the field of energy production.  Jack, an electrical engineer, and Jill, a chemist, have designed a system they call “Zeus” which captures and stores the energy from lightning bolts.  They have perfected the system on their own in the field behind Jack’s house.  The system consists of multiple components that can be loaded onto one 18-wheeled truck and transported, set up, and operational in less than one week.  The components are relatively easy and inexpensive to manufacture.  This technology is going to change the world.

Jack and Jill’s invention is still a secret.  They have come to you because they know you are an excellent manager with keen business sense.  Once revealed, Jack and Jill’s little operation will become an enormous international company almost overnight.  They want you to organize what the business will become.

Your assignment is to organize the business using the four major choices in structuring Organizations as described in Chapter 7, LO 7-3, Decision of Make in Structuring Organizations.  You will create two documents:

  1. A one-page description of the process; one paragraph for each step of the process.  Explain how you will address 1) centralization versus decentralization, (2) span of control, (3) tall versus flat organization structures, and (4) departmentalization.  You will need to be brief, but directly address the issues brought on by this new venture.
  2. A one-page organization chart for the new company by FUNCTION.  Be sure that the chart addresses the needs of the company (research, development, manufacturing, transportation, international, legal, administrative, etc.).  Examples can be found in Chapter 7, LO 7-4.

Create both documents in Word.  If you are not familiar with drawing tools in Word, Google topics such as “organization chart Word,” or “creating an organization chart in Word,” or “Word organization chart template,” or similar.  Submit your finished assignment in the dropbox titled “Assignment 4: Organization Chart.”

[Solved] Divine Command Theorythe Euthyphro

[Solved] Divine Command Theorythe Euthyphro

There are 8 questions and each question has multiple choices to choose from. Each question must have at least 350 words and at least one reference per question.

QUESTION 1

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

·         Discuss what makes Thales’ method of knowing distinctly philosophical as opposed to mythology and religion.  Also, why do you feel his approach may have been seen as radical?

·         Pick any of the Pre-Socratic philosophers other than Thales and discuss what you feel are his more interesting theories. Be sure to provide some history for this person as well. It would be wise to use Curd’s article for this choice.

QUESTION 2

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

  • Based on Plato’s dialogue, Apology, assess the charge leveled against Socrates of corrupting the youth of Athens. (a) Do you think Socrates corrupted the youth of Athens? If so, why? If not, why not? (b) Summarize and critically evaluate Socrates’ defense on this particular accusation – was his defense convincing to you or not? Why or why not?
  • Based on Plato’s dialogue, Apology, (a) in what sense does Socrates claim to be wise? (b) Summarize and evaluate the value of the Socratic Method and Socratic wisdom and whether this method and attitude are valuable for a democratic society such as ours.
  • In the Apology, Socrates repeatedly claims that only execution will stop him from doing philosophy (see 29c-d, 30c, and 34e). However, he does offer to pay a fine, one that Plato and others greatly increased (38b). (a) Why do you believe he would be sentenced to death, and (b) what moral principle does Socrates draw upon in defending his stand on never stopping what he was doing?

QUESTION 3

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

  • Why doesn’t Descartes simply determine what’s real by looking around him and using his sense experience?  What is the reason he felt he needed to adopt radical skepticism, and do you feel he is successful? Be sure to use passages from the Meditations or his Discourse on Method to support your assertions.
  • In Meditation II, Descartes states, “I am; I exist – this is certain.” Explain why Descartes claims that his knowledge about this cannot be doubted? Can you think of a refutation, or does it make good sense?  Why does he have to prove we have immaterial minds? Keep in mind he also concludes that anything he “clearly and distinctly perceives” is something he cannot doubt (See last paragraphs of Meditation VI).
  • In Meditation V, Descartes proffers an ontological argument for God’s existence. Assess that argument and determine if you find it convincing. Then discuss if this argument is enough for him to claim in the last paragraph of Meditation VI, “For from the fact that God is not a deceiver it follows that in cases like these I am completely free from error.” Also, discuss just what “cases” he means.

Question 4

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

  • What exactly is Empiricism?  Please provide specific examples to support your answer.
  • Do you believe Locke’s primary and secondary qualities adequately explain reality as it was understood in the late 1600s? Can you think of something that exists that has no primary or secondary qualities or both?
  • Why do Empiricist believe there are limits to the knowledge of reality?

QUESTION 5

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

  • With reference to Pike’s article, how could it be said that Divine Omniscience challenges the idea that humans have free will?
  • With reference to Anselm’s Ontological Argument for the existence of God, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of his argument.
  • Evaluate the Teleological argument for God’s existence and evaluate its strengths and weaknesses as an empirical argument.

QUESTION 6

Choose what you would like to discuss:

  • The Divine Command Theory
  • The Euthyphro Dilemma
  • Moral Relativism
  • Morality Without God and the like

QUESTION 7

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

  • Jeremy Bentham argued that when we think about whether someone/something ought to count morally that ” The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?” a.) Why would it make sense for a utilitarian like Bentham to make such a statement? b.) Do you think that he’s right about the ability to suffer as what we ought to look at when we’re thinking about whether someone/something counts morally? c.) If we took this seriously what would it mean for our treatment of non-human animals?
  • Immanuel Kant’s moral philosophy is extremely strict about what we ought and ought not do. So strict that he argued that it is always and everywhere wrong to lie. a.) Explain why Kant thought that lying was always wrong using the categorical imperative as a guide. b.) Explain whether you think Kant was right or wrong about this lying business and make sure to use clear examples to help your explanation along. If he was wrong, what’s an example of when it’s morally ok to lie, and if he was right, what’s an example where it looks ok to lie but it really isn’t ok?
  • Kant focused on the intentions behind your actions when assessing the morality of the act, while Bentham and Mill focused on the consequences of your actions when assessing their moral worth. Of the two, consequences and intentions, which do you think is more important when it comes time to assess the morality of actions? Do good intentions save a bad outcome or vice versa? Make sure to provide some clear and specific examples in your explanation. Also note that while it’s possible to look at both intentions and consequences, for any act it looks like we can only really prioritize one of those.

QUESTION 8

Please pick one of the following questions to answer:

  • Discuss and evaluate the reasons Socrates gives for not escaping jail even though he had ample opportunity to do so. What is the nature of the “social contract” here that Socrates is following?
  • How could it be said that the Social Contract Theory produces an orderly society without needing to legislate a particular version of “morality” and what counts as the “good life”? How does the Social Contract avoid problems associated with the Divine Command Theory of morality for a constitutional liberal democracy such as ours in the United States of America?
  • Discuss John Rawls’ idea of the “Veil of Ignorance” and evaluate how it is said to establish a fair distribution of wealth. What is the purpose of the “veil” and what is it supposed to accomplish?

[Solved] Help Right Away —

[Solved] Help Right Away —

Participants: John, Jim (the Director), Laura, Karl, Keith, and Celeste

Setting: A mental health center

Situation: An opening for a full-time therapist has been created because one of the staff therapists is leaving the organization.

Jim: We need to fill this position since Lee is leaving. I suggest we hire Nikki full-time. She has done a great job as an intern, and the kids seem to really like her. What do you think?

Keith: I agree. We should hire her.

Jim: Anyone else?

(Long silence)

John: Yeah, that’s okay with me.

Jim: Is there any discussion on this matter?

Laura: Yes. I don’t think we should hire Nikki without doing a search. She does a good job, but we might be able to get someone even better.

Karl: I sort of feel that way, too.

Keith: I don’t think we could find anyone better. Besides, it could take months to find someone, and we need the help right away—especially on the weekends.

Karl: Yeah, but that doesn’t mean we should hire just anyone.

Jim: Nikki’s not just anyone. Plus, we could lose the funding if we don’t hire right away. I’ve talked to Nikki about it—I’m sure she’d take the position.

Keith: And if we don’t offer it to her, I think she’ll quit.

Laura: Sounds like you guys have already figured it out. Why are you even asking us if you’ve made up your mind already?

Jim: There’s no “we” here, and I didn’t already make up my mind.

Celeste: I don’t think we should act so quickly. I’m not sure Nikki is all that committed to her work. You say the kids like her, but personally, I think she just likes having them do what she wants. She seems like a control freak to me. She likes having the kids like her.

Jim: What is it with you, Celeste? You always disagree with what this group wants to do. Everyone wants this but you. I’m tired of your constant opposition. You should listen to what we’re saying.

Celeste: What is it with me? Why do you act like we’re making a group decision when you have already made a decision and obviously got Keith and John to agree before talking to the rest of us?

Jim: If you can’t be a team player, then maybe it’s you who needs to start looking for a new job.

[Solved] Least 15 Potential Implementation

[Solved] Least 15 Potential Implementation

The unit lesson discussed the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Triple Aim Initiative. For this assignment, you will identify possible implementation strategies for quality improvement in areas that fall under each of the three objectives.

Objective 1: Improve patient experiences by facilitating early sepsis identification and standardization of sepsis treatment.

Strategic goal: Reduce sepsis-related length of stay and mortality rates in your organization.

Objective 2: Improve the health of a population by extending access to primary care and other services for the local population that is primarily low income and/or uninsured.

Strategic goal: Develop innovations in primary care such as partnering with retail providers, creating a medical home, and community-based primary care providers and health navigators.

Objective 3: Lower per-capita cost of health care by transitioning from high-volume care to high-value care.

Strategic goal: Designing, testing, and implement methods to improve reduce costs for people with chronic conditions, including risk prediction, preventive care, and reducing readmissions.

You will utilize the Unit III Project Template to accomplish the following:

For each of the above listed strategic goals you will identify at least 15 potential implementation strategies from the lists contained in Appendixes 3.2 and 3.3 of your textbook. Place the strategies in the first column. The goal here is not to create an actual implementation plan or specific order, but rather to simply identify potential applicability of any strategies to each identified goal.

In the second column of the template, you will then identify a specific action step that can support each strategy.

After completing the requirements above for all three strategic goals, save your template as LastName.FirstName Unit III Project, and upload your file to Blackboard for grading.

APA formatting is not required for this assignment.
