For this assignment, select a specific business; it can be one you work for or, better yet, one you would like to work for in the future. Make sure the company you select meets the following criteria: It must have a written code of ethics and operate at the benevolent level of CSR (corporate social responsibility).

Search online for the company’s website, and review its code of ethics and its report on its corporate social responsibility programs; be sure to identify any of its sustainability practices—this may be a separate link.

Write a report on your chosen company’s code of ethics and CSR. In your report, address whether you believe that leaders of organizations have a duty to all stakeholders or just to stockholders. Present a business argument either for or against corporate social responsibility.

Be sure to include an introduction. Your report must be at least two pages in length, not counting the title or reference pages. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.

Answer the following two essay questions. The essays must be at least 500 words in length. 

1. The role of women has been a prominent and persistent feature of Hinduism throughout this course. Pārvatī asserting her independence and power apart from Śiva (in the Birth of Gaṇeśa story from the Śiva Purāṇa and in the Kumarasambhava), to Sītā’s trial-by-fire in the Rāmāyaṇa, and the role they have played in modern Hindu reform movements (see textbook by Knott) are some prominent examples. Because of this, women have had a seminal position in the Hindu tradition throughout its long history. Drawing on concrete examples we have explored in class (readings, textbook, lectures, Powerpoints, films, etc.), discuss and assess the varying roles women have played in the literature, traditions, and development of Hinduism.

2. The films “Sant Tukaram” and “Devi” were created in the early or mid-20th century. The first was created during the Colonial Period in 1937 and focused on a 17th century Bhakti (devotional) movement. The film also celebrated how devotion can transcend the rigidity of traditional caste laws. The second film, “Devi,” was made in the post-Colonial Period (i.e., after 1947) and is critical of Hindu beliefs. The film is set in the 19th century focuses on the manifestation of the goddess Kālī in a young girl named Doya. The film also explores both the public and family dynamics of this formalized devotion to a living being. Using reading material textbook, articles, lectures, etc., discuss whether these films reflect living Hindu tradition, both past and present. Taken together, how do these two films help shape or broaden your understanding of Hinduism? Make sure to bring up concrete examples from the films (clip references) when writing your essay.

• Research a Fortune 500 company, but do not use the same company you used for the Week 1 “Social Responsibility” assignment. Examine the company’s strategic philanthropy and how it impacts profits, brand, image and turnover, as well as society as a whole.
• Also, address any disadvantages or associated costs the company experiences as a result of its strategic philanthropy practices.

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

• Write between 750 – 1,250 words (approximately 3 – 5 pages) using Microsoft Word in APA style, see example below.
• Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
• Include cover page and reference page.
• At least 80% of your paper must be original content/writing.
• No more than 20% of your content/information may come from references.
• Use at least three references from outside the course material, one reference must be from EBSCOhost. Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the three reference requirement.

• Many 19th century writers developed ideas that still influence us today. For example, in November, 2018 ,one of the worst factory accidents in history happened in a chemical plant in China. At least 23 people were killed; harsh evidence that workers in China’s vast industrial sector are still prey to great dangers, even in relatively new plants.
• 19th Century German philosopher, economist, historian, sociologist, political theorist, journalist and socialist revolutionary Karl Marx might have predicted this would happen.
• In addition, many of the events of the 19th century, like the Civil War or the development of photography still have an impact on our lives today.
• Choose one 19th century thinker or a 19th century event and explain, in at least 500 words, how you see its continuing relevance.
