CASE STUDY ANALYSES–BIOLOGICAL AND EVOLUTIONARY AND INTEGRATIVE THEORIES

The Module Assessment in Week 8 is a personality theory case study analysis that will be developed during Weeks 2 – 8. The Module Assessment is based on a case study found in your Learning Resources, “The Case of Mrs. C.”

This week you examined personality theories from the biological and evolutionary and integrative theoretical orientations. Supported by the information you gathered in your Personality Theory Matrix, analyze the case of Mrs. C based on one theory from the biological or evolutionary orientation and one theory from the integrative orientation examined this week. The case study analysis considers Mrs. C’s symptoms (including cultural considerations) and offers relevant assessments and interventions for her case. Additionally, it must be supported by scholarly materials from research of reputable sources.

[Solved] Two Different Occasions

[Solved] Two Different Occasions

Great job on your post! You explained the assessment of validity very well and how each one of them has a function that is important to measure what they intend to measure. The test-retest reliability is a method for testing on large groups on two different occasions. If the results are consistent then it’s reliable. I agree that without being reliable it cannot be valid and that is for any type of research study. If you were working on a study for depression, to see if an individual who stays inside mostly is prone to be more depressed. Do you think you can try the method of test-retest reliability?

[Solved] Neither Child Ever Really

[Solved] Neither Child Ever Really

In response to your peers, please aim for at least one paragraph that provides additional information, a different perspective, or a follow-up question related to their post. Maintain a respectful and supportive tone, acknowledging and appreciating their contributions. The goal is to engage in a collaborative learning environment, allowing everyone to explore the topic further and deepen their understanding of the subject matter.

1#  After reviewing the material for this unit, I do not believe that it is possible for these children to really develop or learn language skills. While it was shown that they could begin to at least start and understand language, neither child ever really could properly speak. This plays a major role into why I think it is simply not possible as they have passed the critical learning period. “Critical period is an ethological term that refers to a fixed and crucial time during the early development of an organism when it can learn things that are essential to survival.”(Nickerson 2023) Once this period passes, it is very hard for children, and humans in general to really learn and start developing properly. Because this time had passed in the cases of both Genie and Viktor, they did not ever really have a shot at fully developing speach and overall language skills. It certainly is possible for them to learn a little bit and start to grasp some concepts, but for them to ever function normally, is unfortunately not possible as their brains simply cannot process everything.

2#  Genie and Viktor are well-known examples of children who lack language and understanding for most of their youth. Both were found and rescued when they were 13, and both underwent intensive treatment to help them learn language and other skills. But their results were very different. Genie can learn a few simple words and phrases, but does not understand perfect grammar or syntax. He also has difficulty asking questions, using language, and understanding abstract concepts. The golden age of language acquisition, when children learned simple, normal words, seems to be over. Some researchers believe that this important stage ends in adulthood, after which language learning becomes more difficult and less effective. Genie’s case supports this theory because language skills are not always possible despite years of treatment and trauma. On the other hand, Victor is more successful at learning languages than Genie. He understands simple commands and questions and knows a few words and sentences. He also learned to read and write in elementary school. He is also less interested in relationships and communication, preferring to spend time alone or in nature. He seems to have missed an important social moment, an important moment when children learn to communicate with others and understand each other. Some researchers believe that this important period ends with old age, after which social research becomes difficult and ineffective. 3. Victor’s record supports this theory as he is unable to function normally despite years of care and attention. Eventually, Genie and Viktor learn a few languages, but they are no better off. Both suffer from depression and loneliness, which hinders their thinking and development. Their data show that there is an important period for language and social learning and that this critical learning period is very important for human development.

[Solved] Briefly Embedding Others ’

[Solved] Briefly Embedding Others ’

As a follow up to your last DQ and selected reading, create your own claim in support or opposition of the writer’s argument. In a 1000-word, develop an argument in which you support your point-of-view using varied forms of evidence.

Build:

  • Create a clear claim and conduct preliminary research, critically examining sources
    • Although at this stage you may not yet have all the answers to the posed problem, try to explore possible solutions
    • Use at least two viable external sources
  • Paraphrase, quote, and summarize as needed to avoid plagiarism
    •  But maintain ownership by selectively and briefly embedding others’ views
  • Examine possible objections to your point of view; consider acknowledging strong points made by the opposition in at least one paragraph.
    • You cannot ‘see’ your opposition, so research opposing views

[Solved] Using Two Provided Sources

[Solved] Using Two Provided Sources

For the Critical Assignment on education, your objective is to investigate the topic of education more specifically by using two provided sources about higher education and by considering how those sources might apply to you and others.

To be successful, you will need to review and read the sources critically and accurately, analyze them, and provide your own ideas about education, its challenges and importance, in relation to what you have learned.

As you draft this Assignment, think about how your own experiences are connected to what you have researched in this class. In the Literacy Autobiography, we explored personal ideas about education by using Alexie’s (1997) “Superman and Me” Assignment as a starting point. Because we will continue to focus on the topic of education, what you wrote about in your first Assignment is still relevant for the Critical Assignment; however, now you are digging a bit deeper by reviewing more sources and focusing on aspects specific to higher education.

The sources you need to consult for this Assignment are provided in Canvas. You do not need to conduct any additional research on this topic. Your own experiences will complement the provided sources.

[Solved] Spend Time Deleting Parts

[Solved] Spend Time Deleting Parts

George needs to turn in an outline for the speech he is assigned to deliver. The speech itself is two weeks away, but the outline is due today. George has already written the entire speech, and he does not see why he should spend time deleting parts of it to transform it into an outline. He knows exactly what he’s going to say when he gives the speech. Then he discovers that the word-processing program in his computer can create an outline version of a document. Aha! Technology to the rescue! George happily turns in the computer-generated outline, feeling confident that never again will he have to hassle with writing an outline himself.

1. Do you think George’s use of a computer-generated outline fulfills the purpose of creating an outline for a speech? Why or why not?

2. Do you think George’s professor will be able to tell that the outline was created by a word-processing program?

briefly describe their studies’ Independent Variable, Dependent Variable and measures. Students will describe in full their proposed research design and write step by step procedures for conducting their research. The writing of the procedures should be such that it could be easily replicated. Students will also discuss how they plan to ensure internal validity of their research. Describe fully why your study meets the criteria for research, and not just intervention with data collection.

Research Study below:

Research Question: Can scaffolding improve reading among grade 2 early childhood learners with low reading achievement?

The above research question can be studied using a single case design research because it targets a specific population. Single case design takes an evaluative approach to determine the success of a treatment or an intervention on a selected group, individuals or community so as to give evidence about the effectiveness of an intervention in general  by using a sample size that is small and manageable (Kratochwill, 2015). In the above research question, the selected intervention is scaffolding which refers to the support provided to a child with reading and literacy problems and reduced as the child achieves the ability to independently execute the desired behavior. Scaffolding is rooted on the notion that regular interaction between a child and an adult or a teacher with emphasis on the achievement of desired behavior leads to improved performance in the behavior (Salem, 2017).

From the proposed research question the independent variable is the grade of the children. In this proposal, the study will focus on grade 2 children because they are expected to achieve certain reading milestones by the time, they enter the grade level. Independent variable for this proposal can therefore be defined as follows: A child in grade 2 should have a high reading achievement that is equivalent to the reading milestones of learners in the same grade.  The dependent variable in this proposal is the reading achievement which can either be measured as high or low depending on the problem experienced by a learner thus calling for the need of an intervention which is scaffolding. Internal validity of the study will be improved by thoroughly

identifying and selecting grade 2 learners with  genuine reading problems. Additionally, the sample size will be reduced to enhance accuracy in data collection and analysis.

[Solved] Knew Would Make People

[Solved] Knew Would Make People

Tika’s speech on death camps in Africa was a real flop, and she knew it. The speech was quickly prepared, inadequately researched, and not very logical. Thankfully, Tika knew she had an ace in her back pocket. She planned on ending her speech with a video showing mass graves that she knew would make people sick. She thought, Who cares if your speech sucks as long as you get them in the end!

1. Would you say that Tika’s approach to public speaking is ethical? Why or why not?

2. Which type of concluding device is Tika planning to use? Is this device appropriate to her speech? Why or why not? If you conclude it is not appropriate, which devices would be better approaches? Why?

3. Is it ever ethical to rely heavily on an emotional conclusion to persuade one’s audience? Why?
