[Solved] Day 3 Post Two

[Solved] Day 3 Post Two

When indigenous groups feel pressure from outside forces—colonialism in the past, or the seeming juggernaut of a global economy now—historically, the outside forces tend to overcome the indigenous groups. However, indigenous peoples are working toward self-determination and exercising their own agency, or power, to shape their destinies in response to globalization. In this Discussion, you explore the alliances and partnerships that work toward indigenous sustainability.

TO PREPARE FOR DISCUSSION:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources, noting the ways in which indigenous groups ally themselves with others and adapt to change.
  • Identify a threat to cultural and biological diversity and/or environmental justice and sustainability in an indigenous group.
  • Investigate whether or not the indigenous group is partnering with an external activist to maintain cultural and biological diversity and/or promote environmental justice and sustainability.
  • Detail the joint actions undertaken, or the opportunity for joint actions that could be undertaken, to work toward diversity, justice, or sustainability for indigenous peoples.

 BY DAY 3

Post two paragraphs that describe the joint actions undertaken—or that could be initiated—toward maintaining cultural and biological diversity or promoting environmental justice and/or sustainability for the indigenous group you identified. Analyze to what extent diversity, justice, and sustainability are important for the future of indigenous peoples.

Be sure to support your ideas by connecting them to the week’s Learning Resources, or something you have read, heard, seen, or experienced.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.

[Solved] 5 – 6 Pages

[Solved] 5 – 6 Pages

This week, you submit your Ethnographic Narrative that details an exploration of an indigenous heritage, culture, or community. The Final Project is due by Day 7 of this week. Please be sure that your project meets the specified criteria before submitting it.

Remember that the indigenous heritage, culture, or community has been referred to with the umbrella description indigenous identity. Also recall that, although indigenous identity may not fit the UN definitions of indigenous peoples, characteristics of your identity—traditions, economic issues, ancestral lands, country of origin, religion, or class—may parallel those of indigenous groups. By examining an indigenous identity as an ethnographic study, you have the opportunity to see with an indigenous point of view, connect across cultures, and build a better understanding of the global environment.

Submit your Ethnographic Narrative, which should be 5–6 pages long and include the following:

  • A descriptive reflection on the indigenous group you selected during the course. Please include any additional insights about the group’s history/origins, culture, beliefs that you found after Weeks 2 and 3.
  • A comparison of the similarities or differences that you found between the indigenous group and your own culture.
  • An evaluation of how two of the five role perspectives from Anthropological Perspectives Checklist (Week 1 Resources Tab) influenced, changed, or reinforced your conception while studying indigenous peoples.
  • A description of two or three questions about the indigenous group that you studied that remains unanswered, and that you may pursue in the future.

[Solved] 4 Paragraphs Take One

[Solved] 4 Paragraphs Take One

Some pundits have declared that e-commerce will mark the death of traditional retail.  In 3-4 paragraphs take one side of this debate and provide evidence (with links) to support your argument.

Comment on at least one classmate – be clear on why you agree or disagree.

Classmate Rachel: I disagree with the pundits’ statement declaring e-commerce will mark the death of traditional retail. Although e-commerce has already changed the health of traditional retailers, I believe that there will still be a demand (and business) for traditional retailing because it is in people’s nature to want to have experiences as well as physically touch products and interact with traditional retailers.

There are some products that we need to touch in order to determine if it is a good fit for us. I think that one of the best examples is clothing. Personally, I absolutely hate going to malls, however I have learned time and time again that if I try ordering clothes online, I am usually disappointed with the fit — especially for a new brand or a new type of clothing. In these situations, I have actually lost more time (and possible money in shipping costs) by having to return or exchange clothing. While virtual fitting technologies are becoming better, there are still factors that people want to experience in person, such as fabric texture, for instance. My second example is restaurants. While we can order food for delivery via the restaurant’s website or a delivery app, we are losing an experience of going to a restaurant and being served. My argument here is that people seek in-person experiences that simply cannot be replaced by e-commerce.

I think that it is important to note that there have and will continue to be many firms that will close due to the e-commerce wave. Successful or emerging firms that embrace e-commerce and adjust their traditional retail’s service offerings, however, can actually reap more benefits. During the pandemic, many firms began offering in-store or curbside pick up, which to this day are still viable options despite the lockdown being over. These firms learned that people would rather not be inconvenienced by late deliveries, than to be able to order and pick up a product on the same day.
