An integral part of research is the formulation of a good research question. It guides the researcher and assists with study design, population and, ultimately, the data that will be analyzed and collected.

For this assignment, students will write a research question and hypothesis related to a topic of interest. While students are free to choose their topic it must be something that would be studied in social work research (i.e, anything related to policies, social problems, child welfare, mental health, etc.).

Step 1: Formulate a clear research question. The question should be formatted as a clear question with appropriate grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Step 2: Formulate a hypothesis. The hypothesis should follow the guidelines provided in the modules and video. It should be a statement which poses a relationship between an IV and DV.

Step 3: Identify the constant, IV and DV. These variables should consist of short statements/phrases, not complete sentences.

Writing is a continuous part of the fieldwork conducted by an anthropologist. It occurs when the anthropologist observes and records information about the community being studied in the form of field notes. These research notes are then compiled into a larger scaled assignment or ethnographic document. In Week 1, you studied the various approaches to anthropology and presented a brief summary of your current understanding of what indigenous means. This week, you identify at least one indigenous group for your field study and provide reasons why you selected this group.

TO PREPARE FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT:

  • Review the assigned readings in the course texts.
  • Summarize your current understanding of indigenous identity.
  • Select one indigenous group from either Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, Pacific Islands, or South America.

BY DAY 7

1- to 2 page in which you do the following:

  • Identify the indigenous group that you have selected and the region the group lives in.
  • Explain your reasoning of why this group is considered indigenous.

[Solved] Text Provide Case Study

[Solved] Text Provide Case Study

How can one learn about culture? Anthropology involves examining other cultures and documenting human behavior. Sometimes it involves comparing societies in order to increase self-understanding. Comparing observations of an indigenous culture with another culture can be complicated, but may be unavoidable as a participant observer who—no matter the efforts at objectivity—will most likely see things through his or her own culture. Anthropologists often learn about indigenous groups by examining cultural elements, including language, values, symbols, rituals, customs, and beliefs. These are elements that help define a culture. In this Discussion, you compare a thought, belief, or ritual from your own culture with that of an indigenous culture.

Review this week’s assigned readings in the course texts.

  • Select one indigenous group from the reading and review the cultural elements of that group.
  • Compare a thought, belief, or ritual that you practice in your own culture to a thought, belief, or ritual in an indigenous culture.
  • Consider how comparing aspects of two different cultures can be problematic or useful.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post one paragraph that describes your comparison of a thought, belief, or ritual in your own community with that from an indigenous culture. In a second paragraph, discuss the challenges in comparing thoughts, beliefs, or rituals from two communities in this way. Explain how this comparison might be useful.

Be sure to support your ideas by connecting them to the week’s Learning Resources, or something you have read, heard, seen, or experienced.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.

[Solved] Consistently Well Received Despite

[Solved] Consistently Well Received Despite

Pay-for-performance (PFP) continues to be a topic of debate. In America’s public school and health care systems, PFP is controversial issue. In some cases, such as law enforcement and the military, there is a belief such a system would not work at all.

Although the process has made inroads in business and is a means to help determine promotions, pay, and retention, pay for performance has not been consistently well received despite the successes experienced.

You have been asked by the organization’s senior leadership to explore the practicality of implementing a pay for performance program for your organization (i.e., merit pay, variable pay, discretionary bonuses, and non-discretionary bonuses) or one you are interested in working with.
