[Solved] Imagine Averröes Attempting

In “The Wall and the Books” Borges defines the aesthetic phenomenon as the “imminence of a revelation which does not occur”. Explain how this defnition relates to his story “Averröes’ Search” in two levels: First, as Averröes attempts to understand Aristotle’s concept of tragedy and comedy. And second, as Borges attempts to imagine Averröes attempting to understand Artistotle’s concept of tragedy and comedy.

SDH and its impacts on health have recently been the subject of research. SDH has been defined as non-medical conditions that affect the health of individuals. These factors include conditions such as economic policies, development agendas, political aspects, and social norms. SDH play an important aspect in the health of individuals and it determines how people can access healthcare or shape their well-being and quality of life. SDH has influenced the inequality in the health of individuals. Some of the populations that have been highly affected are older adults. Economic factors are a significant part of the SDH, mostly for elderly populations. It has been stated that by 2030, an estimated 20% of the US population is expected to be around 65 years and above, thus increasing the SDH risk (SDH of Health and their Impact on Seniors 2022). Calls to focus on and improve SDH factors are being discussed in order to improve the quality of life of the elderly and venerable people.

One of the concerning issues in SDH is poverty, which mostly affects the elderly. The well-being and health of the elderly are highly linked to their financial background. Economic security is vital in ensuring individuals can cover their medical and health expenses such as pharmaceuticals, medical bills, and healthy lifestyles. Poverty also influences the food security and nutrition of the elderly population. Individuals living in poverty will find it challenging to afford nutritious food or even food to sustain their health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, an estimated 40 million Americans had challenges with food security and hunger. An estimated of 50% of the individuals aged 50 years and above were among the most affected by access to food security (SDH and their impact on seniors 2022). Without proper nutrition and food security, the health of the elderly population will start to get worse. Most elderly adults are faced with consequential choices of whether to pay rent, purchase healthy food, or purchase medications and being in poverty does not help but rather makes things worse for these elderly populations living in poverty. Also, poor economic benefits contribute to their lack of to access proper health care. Access to affordable and high-quality health is important to elderly people (Older People and the Social Determinants of Health – Wiley Online Library 2021). The elderly are always finding it challenging to navigate their health and may need help from professional healthcare providers. Without financial abilities, their health is expected to worsen over time.

Peer 2, Germina:

The term “social determinants of health” refers to the environmental, social, and economic situations that people are exposed to on a daily basis that have an impact on their overall health and well-being. As people get older, they are at a greater risk of experiencing increased health problems that are both age-related and caused by chronic illnesses. The social factors that determine health become even more crucial for elderly people who are living in poverty, and this can have a substantial effect on both their general health and their sense of wellbeing.

The capacity to acquire necessary medical care and services is the first item that suffers as a direct result of poverty’s influence on the social variables that define the health of older people. This is because poverty directly affects the social aspects that determine health. It’s possible that a senior adult will have trouble getting the appropriate medical treatment and services owing to a number of various factors that are out of their control. A lack of information about the health care system, limited access to health insurance, limited financial resources, and limited transportation alternatives are some of these challenges. In addition to this, there is restricted access to various forms of medical insurance. For instance, an elderly person who does not have access to transportation may be unable to make it to their doctor’s appointments or to the pharmacy in order to pick up medications that are important for their condition. Their health could suffer as a direct result of these actions. In addition, if an older adult does not have appropriate understanding of the health care system, they may not be aware of the services and treatments that are available to them, as well as the ways by which they can acquire access to such services and treatments. This can make it difficult for them to make informed decisions about their health care. If an older adult does not have health insurance, they may not be able to afford essential medical treatments or medications, even if they are able to receive them. This is the case even if they are able to obtain the treatments or prescriptions. Even if they are able to get their hands on the therapies or prescriptions, this will still be the case. Last but not least, it can be exceedingly difficult for an older adult to receive the care that they require if they do not have the financial resources to pay for the essential medical care and treatments.

When it comes to elderly people who are living in impoverished conditions, a lack of access to medical treatment and services can have a variety of bad impacts on their overall health. These include an increased risk of developing chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, and arthritis; an increased risk of falling and other injuries; and an increased risk of developing mental health difficulties. Other risks include a decreased life expectancy and an increased risk of developing cancer. One additional danger is a potential reduction in life expectancy. In addition, elderly individuals who live in poverty may have a more difficult time managing their chronic diseases, which can result in a more rapid decline in their general health if they do not have access to proper medical treatment and therapies. If this is the case, their overall health may deteriorate more quickly.

Peer 1, Dameiro,

We’ve talked a lot about healthcare politics and policy over the past 15 weeks. Healthcare regulations are thought to be crucial to the delivery of services. In the healthcare sector, they offer technical assistance to evidence-based healthcare strategies and policies, assisting even with their implementation based on various values and consideration standards for the profession. Politics is seen to have a significant influence on how healthcare is delivered, how policies are developed, and how decisions are made in the healthcare setting. Politics is known to have an impact on how laws are created in the healthcare sector and how decisions are made about the distribution of various crucial resources required for the provision of healthcare services (Larsen, 2020). My mentors’ advice and encouragement have been essential to my academic performance. To help them better understand the topic they were studying, mentors gave them advice and assistance. Mentors serve as role models for their mentees by exemplifying the importance of cooperation and support among one another. We were able to more clearly understand the concepts at hand and apply them in real-world circumstances thanks to the direction and encouragement of our mentors. I feel a lot more confident in my ability to handle the difficult challenges of medical care change, politics, and activism after considering what I’ve learned in this class.

I had to educate myself on the politics of healthcare, the numerous sorts of medical centers in the United States, and the various ways to pay for them to dangle my toes in the water of strategy, politics, and advocacy. I’ve also got to read up on how nurses may work with their neighborhoods to enhance the health delivery system and facilitate more seamless changes in care. I found the clarifications of the policy-making process to be fascinating. The chapter that described the duties and obligations of nurses in various medical settings was quite instructive. I learned a lot from the article’s examination of political pundits and recommendations for how nurses might collaborate to influence policy. It is essential to comprehend how nursing staff might use cooperative lobbying techniques to improve care transitions and change the way healthcare is delivered. Nurses must be aware of the numerous volunteer options accessible to them because they are typically the first point of contact with patient populations who need medical care (Patel & Rushefsky, 2019). I have learned a lot from this course, and I will be able to use it in my future work in policy research, political activism, and advocacy. I now have a better understanding of the combined efforts of nurses to enhance care transitions and transform the healthcare system.

Peer 2, Arfilio:

There is little doubt that the knowledge I have learned over the course of this semester’s fifteen weeks is priceless. There is a two-way street effect between politics and the legislation that regulate healthcare systems, as the two are closely connected. The health care system’s effectiveness and efficiency are determined by national policy. The government should make these principles law. The government will be better equipped to meet the requirements and demands of its population if it is able to improve the delivery and provision of health care. Medical policy is developed with the needs of the public in terms of individual health in mind. As a leader in the healthcare field and an advocate for patients, RNs have the obligation of making sure their patients are receiving the best care possible. A registered nurse’s responsibilities extend much beyond those listed above. This is just one of many situations in which RNs are required to grab the reins. It is illegal for anyone without a current nursing license to take on this obligation on their own. (Whalen et al ,2020).

Nurses receive extensive training; yet, they need further knowledge in health policy in order to affect change in the standard of care provided by the health care system. Advocates for nurses’ rights are nearly universal in their conviction that more should be done to educate and prepare nurses to participate in policymaking. This argument emphasizes the value of preparing nurses to take part in the decision-making process at the policy level. The agreement’s principles emphasize the need of arming nurses with the information and expertise they need to play a role in shaping policy. Students in the nursing sector, however, gain a lot from both providing and receiving mentorship in peer-to-peer programs. (Ephraim et al, 2021).

This is due to the fact that many nursing students choose to act as role models for their fellow students. That’s because both parties can benefit from working together. This is due to the unique learning and teaching opportunities afforded to nursing students by their peers. Participation fosters self-directed learning, builds relationships, offers emotional and academic support, develops cooperation skills, and strengthens the ability to take the initiative. Participation may also lead to these benefits. In addition to these benefits, the recipient may also be eligible for counseling and academic support services.(s). Peer mentoring programs are beneficial not just for students, but also for teachers and administrators by making the classroom more comfortable and student-centered. For this reason, it should come as no surprise that mentoring by peers is successful. Because of this, pupils’ belief in their own abilities grows, creating a positive feedback loop. Mentoring by a peer can be seen as mutually beneficial for both parties involved. The term “peer mentoring” refers to the act of one student aiding another in their academic and/or professional development. (Mason et al, 2020).

When one student assists another, this is known as peer mentoring. how much the clinical learning environment itself, beyond the guidance of instructors, affects a student’s ability to become a certified medical professional. This holds true whether students are learning in a virtual or physical setting. Students may feel unprepared to navigate the healthcare system on their own if they do not receive this level of support, which is highly unlikely. This is because students have a slim chance of securing money on such a grand scale. This is because there is just a remote possibility that they will ever be able to acquire it. (Campos et al, 2019).

A crucial component of public health is healthy aging, and it is crucial to take into account the social determinants of health that have an impact on older persons who are poor. Social determinants of health are “the circumstances under which people are born, develop, work, live, and age,” according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Particularly for individuals who live in poverty, these factors can have a major negative impact on an older adult’s health and well-being (Coughlin, 2021).

The harmful impact of poverty on the social determinants of health for older adults is a complex and multifaceted issue. Economic constraints, social exclusion, and environmental deprivation are all factors that can lead to inadequate healthcare access, insufficient nutrition, substandard housing, and limited social support for older adults living in poverty (Singu et al., 2020). Moreover, the mental health implications of poverty, including the chronic stress and anxiety accompanying financial insecurity, can further exacerbate the negative health outcomes experienced by older adults in impoverished circumstances. As a result, taking into account the intricate interplay between economic, social, and environmental factors leading to health disparities, it is necessary to take a multidimensional strategy when addressing the social determinants of health linked with poverty among older persons.

Access to healthcare is one of the main effects of poverty on older persons. It is challenging for many elderly people living in poverty to manage chronic ailments, receive preventative care, and access treatments for acute illnesses because they lack health insurance or inexpensive access to healthcare. This may result in worse health outcomes, higher hospitalization rates, and more medical expenses (Coughlin, 2021). Additionally, a lack of access to nourishing food, secure shelter, and other basic necessities can exacerbate existing health issues and lead to chronic disease.

In addition, social isolation and a lack of social support are frequent problems for elderly people who live in poverty. As a result, a person’s mental and physical health may be further impacted by feelings of isolation, melancholy, and anxiety. Inadequate access to information and resources, such as details about health services and disease prevention, can result from social isolation and worsen health disparities among older people living in poverty.

Poverty can also impact an older adult’s physical environment. Older adults living in poverty may reside in substandard housing or neighborhoods with limited access to safe recreational spaces, transportation, and other essential services. These environmental factors can negatively impact an individual’s physical health and contribute to health disparities among impoverished older adults (Singu et al., 2020).

In conclusion, social determinants of health are important factors that have a significant impact on older adults’ health and well-being. Poverty is a major social determinant of health that can negatively affect a person’s access to healthcare, nutrition, housing, and social support as well as cause social isolation, poor mental health, and limited access to information and resources. Policymakers, healthcare providers, and community organizations must work together to develop strategies to address poverty and its impact on older adults, focusing on promoting access to healthcare, social support, and essential services.
