[Solved] Reform Via Standards Gave

After completing the weekly readings, provide a thorough response in your own words to the weekly questions posted below. Please make sure you submit a one-word document with all your answers. A minimum of 550 words and a maximum of 700 words (font size 12, single-spaced) are required for each complete assignment. Please follow APA format in your work. Please remember to include one or two sentences identifying the habits of mind  (Links to an external site.)you have used to promote the reflection of the readings.

1. In chapter 1, Ravitch makes the case that the improvement of curriculum and instruction is more effective in improving the quality of schooling than a change in structure and governance, such as school choice and accountability measures. As you reflect on your own experiences as an educator, to what extent do you agree with the author? Explain your evidence and reasoning. Which position do you think is more apt to be held by the public and why?

2. Chapter 2 explains how reform via standards gave way to reform via testing. On page 16, Diane Ravitch asserts her belief that tests should follow curriculum rather than determine it. Discuss how the debate over the content standards for history facilitated the movement from standards to testing. In an era of standards-based instruction, how is daily teaching informed? How does the content taught change when accountability testing is included?

3.      Discussion Board #4 EDU 6600

Research indicates that good discipline is best achieved by putting proactive measures in place.  Over and over, research has shown that disciplinary techniques such as suspension is not effective in managing and preventing behavioral issues.  Many schools have embraced the use of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports which emphasize recognizing students for engaging in desired behaviors and stresses the importance of having school-wide involvement.  By shaping desired behavior and focusing on appropriate behavior, students experience success and a much more positive culture within the school setting is created.

In 200-300 words discuss the types of discipline utilized at your school.  Are the positive behavioral supports in place to promote appropriate student behavior? Does you school use suspension? corporal punishment? Does your school teach expected and appropriate behavior and allow students to practice?

After you post, respond to 2 classmates in 100-200 words.

[Solved] Home Worlds Everyday Antiracism

[Solved] Home Worlds Everyday Antiracism

Purpose: To develop skills in the critical analysis of various media. You will be able to engage the content from varied perspectives which serves to encourage viewing and questioning through different lenses. This activity will also help you to think critically as you develop and produce your final video project.

Directions: You will write a scholarly critique of each module’s set of readings. A scholarly critique is not a re-telling or a summary of the plain sense of the text(s). Rather, it is a document which articulates an understanding, an analysis and a capacity to identify intellectual and pragmatic/ pedagogical application(s) of the reading to teaching and learning in urban contexts. You may select a role from the critic list  provided and write from that perspective—for example Feminist, Philosopher King / Queen, etc. Given the density of the course readings, you are not expected to critique every aspect of the text, but rather select one or more big ideas and focus the bulk of your analysis there. You will need to read/watch all materials and will demonstrate your understanding of these texts through additional assignments. You will need to reference at least 3 texts/videos in these critiques. Critiques are to be approximately 2 pages in length, well written, and in full compliance with the rules of an excellent composition. Grades will be based on both content and form.
